About Lindsay

Lindsay-8487_edited.jpg

I have been practicing bodywork since 2013. Prior to massage school I completed my undergraduate education with a focus on Somatic Psychology and integrative & alternative medicine. Most recently, in Spring 2019 I completed a Structural Integration training program at the Soma Institute and became a Certified Soma Practitioner.

Receiving the SOMA series has dramatically impacted my ability to be present in my body and to heal from past injuries – physical and emotional.  Because of the profound shifts I experienced, I attended the Soma Institute’s 500+ hour structural integration training in Spring 2019 so I could learn this work and share it with others. I am deeply committed to helping others become more embodied, connected and present through hands-on bodywork and Soma Structural Integration.

I offer Soma sessions as part of the 11-session series, ongoing treatment or maintenance sessions, and/or as stand-alone sessions. I also offer Somassage and Integrative Massage Therapy for those looking for something more closely resembling typical massage therapy. My work is slow, deep and meditative, with the intention of helping to ease your body/mind/spirit into deeper harmony and balance.

I am currently practicing at The Shanti Center in Bellingham, WA.  When I am not practicing bodywork, I can be found on the trails with my dog and partner, biking, hiking or moving my body in some way through yoga or dance, or curled up somewhere cozy knitting with a cup of tea.

About Soma Structural Integration

Soma Structural Integration is a type of Structural Integration (S.I.) originally developed and made popular by Dr. Ida Rolf in the 1970s. In 1977, Dr. Rolf’s student Bill Williams, PhD in Psychology, adapted the classic Rolf 10-series into an 11-session series with a deeper focus on body/mind/spirit integration. This 11-session series known as Soma Structural Integration continues to be taught on Whidbey Island at The Soma Institute.

Structural Integration is a form of hands on bodywork that utilizes myofascial release and other manual therapy techniques to bring the body into deeper balance and ease in gravity. Much has been written on the topic, though I have found that directly experiencing the work is the best way to understand it and why so many have benefited from its application.
